Frequently Asked Questions
1. WHAT IF I AM ABSENT FROM SCHOOL? WHAT IS MY RESPONSIBLITY WHEN I COME BACK TO SCHOOL?

A. Report the absence to the Attendance Office prior to 9:00 a.m. to 330-908-6160. If the absence is not reported on the day of the absence, the parent/guardian must contact the attendance office by personal phone call or note immediately upon student's return to school. If you arrive late or leave early, you will need an “Admittance Slip” before you will be permitted to go to, or leave from your classes. Page 17 of Student Handbook.

2. WHAT IF I AM NOT FEELING WELL WHEN I AM AT SCHOOL? WHERE DO I GO?

A. First, make sure you tell your teacher. Then you will most likely go the Clinic. It is located in the back of the Cafeteria.

3. WHAT IF I ARRIVE LATE TO SCHOOL? WHAT IS MY RESPONSIBILITY?

A. If you come late to school, or do not arrive to your first period class before 7:20 a.m., you must report to the Attendance Office. Mrs. Schaeffer will give you an Admit Slip AND a detention for an unexcused tardy. Refer to page 18 in the student handbook.

4. WHERE DO I GET TICKETS TO THE FOOTBALL GAME?

A. We sell pre-sale tickets to the football games. They are $4.00 pre-sale and $6.00 at the gate for students. Adult tickets are $6.00. You can purchase your tickets during lunch period at the bookstore or from Mr. Eckenrode, The Athletic Director in the cafeteria.

5. WHAT’S GOING TO HAPPEN TO ME IF MY TEACHER SENDS ME TO THE OFFICE BECAUSE THE CLOTHES I AM WEARING ARE NOT APPROPRIATE FOR SCHOOL?

A. You will be asked if you have any other clothing to change into which is more appropriate. If you do not, you will need to contact a parent and have them bring up to school a change of clothes. Page 22 in the Student Handbook.

6. IF I GET A DETENTION, HOW DO I SERVE IT? WHAT IF I DON’T SERVE IT?

A. You always have a choice of serving OFFICE DETENTIONS IN EITHER THE MORNING OR THE AFTERNOON.

A.M. detentions are in Room 102 6:50-7:15.
P.M. detentions are in Room 130 2:16-2:56.

If you do not serve your detention a Saturday detention will be assigned to you.

7. IF I NEED TO LEAVE THE CLASSROOM FOR ANY REASON, WHAT IS THE PROCEDURE?

A. Whenever you leave the classroom, you need to ask permission from your teacher and have your agenda book with you. Your Time Tracker/Agenda Book has your “Hall Passes” in it.

8. WHAT IF I FORGOT SUPPLIES? IS THERE A PLACE I CAN GET THEM?

A. The bookstore, located nearby the Cafeteria has supplies you can purchase for a “nominal fee”.

9. WHAT IF I CAN’T OPEN MY LOCKER?

A. Our Custodial staff works very hard at keeping our building as beautiful as it is. If you can’t open your locker, as much as you might want to-don’t kick and pound on it-notify the office or your classroom teacher. They will contact the custodians who will help fix the problem!

10. WHAT IF I AM HAVING TROUBLE IN MY CLASS ACADEMICALLY? CAN I GET HELP?

A. Our teachers at Nordonia High School have a tutor duty period assigned to them. If you are having trouble, JUST ASK!! NEVER BE AFRAID TO GET HELP! You will find that your teachers have posted in their classrooms the tutoring schedule to give you the extra support you need. Parents please utilize Parent Access and call us anytime.

11. WHAT DO I DO IF I HAVE A PROBLEM?

A. We are fortunate enough to have an excellent guidance and administrative staff. If you ever have a concern, as big or small as it may seem, please do not be afraid to go to your Guidance Counselor for help and support. You could also see your Associate Principal or talk to your teachers.

13. What is the rule for cell phones/electronic devices?

A. They are not allowed during school hours; 7:15-2:11.

14. What are lunch accounts?

A. Your child is given a number when money is deposited in their lunch account through the Cafeteria. When the money is running low the cafeteria employee will inform the student.

15. Fee?

A. There is an academic fee of $75.00 and a fee for each sport $90.00 and a fee for clubs and organizations of $20.00 payable by the start of the school year.
