A Message From the Principal. . . WELCOME

 Northfield Elementary - an EXCELLENT school!

     Located in Northfield, Ohio Northfield Elementary boasts a very large campus which includes a large playground area, two multi-layer play equipment areas, basketball and baseball facilities and a well-maintained field area. The design of our school building is somewhat misleading because our school is really quite large! From the front of the school there are two entrances. One leads to our district Board of Education offices while the other brings visitors and students into our building. 

      First opened in 1963, Northfield is now home to approximately 415 students, 53 faculty and staff members, and includes an IMC and computer lab on the upper floor, street side. A ramp takes the visitor to the main academic wings which also house our music, art, physical education, speech and language, reading intervention, cafeteria and other ancillary services.

     An active PTA unit supports our school through programming and fundraising for important technology and materials needed and used by our students. In addition to providing weekly communication to parents through a PTA folder system, the PTA coordinates the VAST (Volunteers Assisting Students and Teachers) program. Market Day, our main fundraising activity throughout the year, is also run by our PTA. Other events are fall and spring book fairs, a school carnival, parent connection opportunities and monthly newsletters published with the school newsletter to keep everyone informed! 

     Throughout the academic year, the teaching staff strive to not only provide exciting and challenging curriculum but also to achieve a better understanding of their pupils as individuals and to meet those needs to the best of their ability. The Nordonia Hills schools deliver many student support services including special education services and tutoring, English as a Second Language (ESL), remedial reading, gifted and talented enrichment, speech and language therapy, psychological related services, and classroom guidance, to name just a few. Our teachers provide differentiated instruction to help meet the needs of all students.  We are proud of the most recent accomplishment by our staff and students who, with the partnership of parents and a supportive learning community, received a rating of EXCELLENT on the 2007-2008 school year!
