Nordonia Receives State Awards for Drug Prevention Programming

The Nordonia Hills City School District has a strong history of providing programming to prevent student drug and alcohol abuse. This outstanding work has been recognized by the Alcohol and Drugs Abuse Prevention Association of Ohio (ADAPAO), which has announced two awards for Nordonia.

First, Nordonia High School senior Delaney Monroe is a recipient of the 2017 ADAPAO Prevention Excellence Award for exemplary efforts to advance prevention across Ohio. The ADAPAO Youth Prevention Awards honor excellence in and commitment to prevention in Ohio among young people in our state. Members of ADAPAO, the statewide association championing prevention in Ohio, nominate youth who are engaged in prevention in their communities and around the state.

Also, Nordonia Teen Institute is the recipient of the 2017 ADAPAO Youth Prevention Organization of the Year for exemplary efforts in advancing the mission of ADAPAO by an agency, coalition, board, business, task force, or other organization. ADAPAO's mission: Employing the power of dialogue, education, networking, and advocacy to amplify a united voice for effective prevention in Ohio. Nordonia Teen Institute is advised by Regina Christy.

The ADAPAO Youth Prevention Awards honor excellence in and commitment to prevention in Ohio among young people and youth-serving organizations in our state. Members of ADAPAO, the statewide association championing prevention in Ohio, are solely responsible for the nomination of candidates.

ADAPAO Awards will be presented to Nordonia Teen Institute and the other honorees at the ADAPAO Fall Garden Party, taking place on Sunday, October 8 from 1:00 to 4:00pm at the Goodale Park Shelterhouse in Columbus.
