Today I am sharing information regarding the rollout of Nordonia’s reopening plan. At the Monday, July 20, regular Board of Education meeting, I will present a draft plan on reopening school in the fall. Please note this is a regular Board meeting with a full agenda. This meeting should not be construed to be a town hall meeting for the purpose of discussing reopening school.
The meeting will be at 7 p.m. at Reinecker’s Bakery. Masks are required, and spacing will be limited.
- No decisions about reopening school will be made at the Board meeting, and I will give the same presentation on Facebook Live at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21.
- Because the plan is still in draft form, I will be taking questions about the plan from the Board, but not the public. Please see information below about our plan to answer public questions once the plan is officially released.
- There will be an Open Forum for public comment at the July 20 Board meeting, but the best way to share your thoughts about school reopening is by emailing the board members individually, or sending me an email at [email protected], which I will forward to the entire Board.
The Board will then hold a special meeting on Thursday, July 23, at 6 p.m. (location yet TBD) to discuss the draft and offer me feedback. I will take the Board’s feedback, finalize the plan, and release it no later than August 14. In reality, I hope to have the plan released by July 31, as we will need as much time as possible to work out the logistics and families will need time to decide what option they will choose for their children.
As soon as the official reopening plan is released, I will schedule a “Virtual Town Hall Meeting” in which my administrative team and I will answer all questions related to the reopening plan. We will also create a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document that we will share with the public and post on our website.

I know the stress and anxiety of running a school district at this unusual time. I can’t imagine the stress and anxiety of being a parent.
