May 12 Coronavirus Update

Thank you for your continued support and flexibility as we work through these challenging times. As you know, the Nordonia Hills City School District will continue to provide remote learning for students through June 2.

Today I have news about kindergarten registration for the 2020-21 school year.

  • Kindergarten registration will resume on Monday, May 18. Please contact Maria Linville at 330-467-0580 or [email protected] to schedule an appointment.
  • Only one adult may attend registration and must wear a mask. Masks will be available for those who can't bring their own. Children may not accompany adults.
  • COVID-19 has caused disruption to families, schools and businesses throughout the world, and it is still unclear how it may impact all of us in the future. As you register your child for kindergarten for the 2020-21 school year, please consider the following items so you can make the most informed decision for your family.
  1. It is highly possible the 2020-21 school year will be disrupted. This may include a delayed start to the school year, students attending school in shifts, and lengthy school closures during the year.
  2. Tuition helps pay the salary of our kindergarten teachers. Because this is a fixed cost, we are not able to reduce tuition based on any of the aforementioned disruptions.
  3. It is highly possible that families who enroll in part-time kindergarten may not be able to “upgrade” to full-time kindergarten later.
  4. The deadline to select full-time kindergarten will be July 31, 2020.
  5. The deadline to switch from full-time to part-time kindergarten and still receive a refund of your deposit is July 31, 2020.
  • We know these factors make the enrollment decision difficult, but we wanted you to know the possibilities beforehand so you can make the best informed decision for your family.

These are strange times, and we will get through them together through flexibility and common sense.

As always, thanks for your continued support of the Nordonia Schools, and Go Knights!
