Board Commits to Safety and Security Enhancements Pending Levy Passage

The Nordonia Hills City School District has a 6.98 mill operating levy on the November 6 ballot.

At its regular July 23 meeting, the Board of Education committed to implementing several safety and security enhancements (see below) if the levy passes November 6. In short, this commitment will improve the physical safety of our buildings, enhance the personnel assigned to monitoring student/staff security, and provide more resources for our students struggling with mental, emotional and behavioral health issues. While the district believes Nordonia students are safe at school, we understand the need and desire to further enhance the measures we currently have in place.

This understanding comes from the Board listening to the concerns of citizens present at its Open Forum held on March 7, 2018, consulting with safety/security/mental health experts, and relying on district administration to research and review best practices in the field and in neighboring school districts.

If the levy passes, the listed commitments will be implemented as soon as practical, with some happening as soon as January, 2019, others implemented during the spring semester, and others in place for the start of the 2019-20 school year.

As always, thanks for your continued support of the Nordonia Schools.
