Lunchbox Help Please!
In an effort to reduce confusion in the lunchroom we would appreciate it if families could write their child's first and last name on the outside of their child's lunch box. This would help us quickly pair students with their lunchbox during lunchtime and help lost lunch boxes find their way to their rightful owner.
Arrival and Dismissal Reminders
All transportation changes must be communicated directly to the front office, not to classroom teachers. We must receive notification of a transportation change in the office no later than 2pm. Parents who do not inform the office of a change to Car Pool pick up prior to 2pm will need to park in the front parking lot and come into the office to pick up their child.
ONLY preschool car riders can be dropped off and picked up in the front school. Preschool teachers will meet vehicles at the center island in the front parking lot during arrival. In the afternoon students will be walked to the front parking lot island and can be picked up from the lot side lane.
All passenger vehicles must stay out of the bus lanes at the front of the school from 8:00 to 9:00am and again from 3:00 to 4:30pm.
More Schedule Information
Students will receive instruction in Art, Music, Physical Education and go to the school library on a four-day rotation schedule. The rotation schedule allow students to have these classes at the same time each day in their schedule creating regular blocks of instruction time and a predictable daily schedule.
We will be referring to the each day in the rotating schedule by color in the following order: Blue Day, Red Day, Green Day, Yellow Day. To assist parents in remembering where we are in the schedule, a weekly guide will be posted on this webpage. Here are the day rotations for the first week and two days of school:
You will receive, or may have already received, a schedule from your child’s teacher explaining what co-curricular class your student will have on each day of the four day rotation.
For parents the challenges in a rotation schedule involve making sure students have their school library books in their backpack each day and gym shoes on P.E. day. We recommend students wear tennis shoes to school every day (this is also an advantage for student safety) OR keep an old pair of tennis shoes in their locker in case they forget to wear them on the appropriate day. We also recommend families get into the habit of packing their child’s backpack with their library books before students go to bed in the evening.
Thank You PTA!
Ledgeview Elementary would like to thank our wonderful Ledgeview PTA for our beautiful new playground shade structure! The project was the brain child of our PTA president, Julie Moran, who also planned, coordinated and completed the project. No doubt our students will appreciate the shade during the hot days in August and September.
Lunch Times for the 2016-17 School Year
Parents are welcome to come join their children for lunch during the school year. We ask that you do not come in the first week and a half of the school year to allow students, recess/lunch aides and cafeteria staff time to adjust to the new recess before lunch schedule.
Lunch times are as follows:
First Grade: 11:05-11:30
Third Grade: 11:20-11:45
Second Grade: 11:30-11:55
Fourth Grade: 12:15-12:40
A gentle reminder that parents are not allowed to attend recess with their child per the district's elementary handbook.
Meet, Greet, & Drop Is This Coming Monday, August 22
Meet, Greet, & Drop will be on Monday, August 22, 2016 from 4:00-6:00pm. Families and students are invited to come in and meet their teacher, visit their new classroom and drop off school supplies.
During your visit, you can visit the PTA membership table, sign up to volunteer, get information about Champions (before and after school care), obtain arrival and dismissal procedures, tour the building and ask questions. Our computer lab will be open if you wish to complete the online student forms while you are here.
Mrs. Pam Gubana, our cafeteria manager, will be in the cafeteria to imprint your child’s finger for school lunch services. Families may also put money on their child’s lunch account.
Mrs. Amanda Coon, our school secretary, will be in the cafeteria to accept fees and answer questions. Fee payment is also available on the website using the EZ Pay option on the school website. EZ Pay is a great way to help save you time.
Bus information will be posted on the website mid to late August. Please contact the transportation department at 330-468-4710 with any questions or concerns you have regarding busing.
New Daily Schedule at Ledgeview
Part Time Kindergarten Schedule Information
The educational team at Ledgeview Elementary has made three changes to our daily schedule that we believe will have a positive impact on your child’s education:
1. All grade levels will have recess before lunch. Research supports that students are calmer and eat more of their lunch when they participate in recess before lunch. This also helps create a better transition pattern for returning to class work.
2. All students will participate in a school-wide ‘no new instruction’ period in the middle of the school day. The no new instruction period is an opportunity for teachers to provide targeted supports for students who are experiencing difficulties while also providing extension activities for students who are working at grade level and above. Students will be re-grouping across the grade level based on their educational needs and will be working with a variety of educators on varying targeted during this time.
3. Students will receive instruction in Art, Music, Physical Education and go to the school library on a four-day rotation schedule. The rotation schedule allow students to have these classes at the same time each day in their schedule creating regular blocks of instruction time and a predictable daily schedule.
If you have any questions about the changes to the schedule please feel free to contact your child’s teacher or Kristen Cottrell, the building principal.
