Lee Eaton’s Ribbons for Relief Fundraisre - Student
Council
The
suffering of people in Haiti has really impacted us here at Lee Eaton. Several
students approached teachers in the building asking if there was something we
can do to help. Student leaders in our school that are in either Student
Council or Squires in Training (a group that promotes good character) took the
lead with this fundraiser. We knew we
wanted to involve students, teachers and the community in this effort. We
decided to collect money to donate to the American Red Cross to help with the
needs in Haiti. To add even more incentive, this fundraiser became a
competition.
Student
Council and Squires in Training members are responsible for collecting money
from their homerooms and rallying their classmates to get involved. Every
morning, the collected money gets tallied up and an announcement is made about
the team that is in the lead. For every $5 donated per team in our building,
one ribbon is tied to a long piece of twine. When the fundraiser is all over,
we will be displaying the twine in front of our building with the colorful
ribbons hanging for all to see. Parents, guardians, teachers, staff and
community members will feel a sense of pride. Our students care about others,
our students are generous and the symbols of these attributes will be hanging
on the front lawn.
Congratulations
to our students for stepping up and helping others. We raised $1511.00 to donate to Haiti through
the Red Cross.
