Dear Rushwood Families:
Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year!
Please join us for our annual Meet, Greet, and Drop night on August 22nd. Stop in between the h ours of 5:00-7:00 pm to meet your teacher, drop off school supplies, and say hello! This night is for students in grades 1-4.
For our Kindergarten families, we have a special evening planned for you on August 17th, 6:30-8:00 pm. Here, you will find out your child's teacher, get a building tour, and we are even working on a popsicle social compliments of our amazing PTA!
We will continue with our staggered start this year.
For students in grades 1-4:
The first day of school for students with last name A-K will be Thursday, August 24th. For students with last names L-Z, their first day will be Friday, August 25th. On Monday, August 28th, ALL students in grades 1-4 will report to school.
Kindergarten start dates are the following:
Rushwood will be giving KRA-R Screening for each student, individually (you should have that time and date pre-scheduled), on Thursday 8/24, Friday, 8/25, and Monday, 8/28. Students with last name A-K will report to school Tuesday, 8/29, and 8/31. Students with the last name L-Z will report to school on 8/30 and 9/1. There is no school on Monday, September 4 (Labor Day). Beginning Tuesday, 9/5, ALL Kindergarten students report to school.
Our doors open at 8:40 am and school starts promptly at 9:00 am. Note; if you are driving your student to school, we close the back doors (by Safety Town) at 8:55 am. If you arrive later than 8:55 am, please come to the main entrance (with the exception of the first days of school). If you arrive later than 9:00 am, you will need to come into Rushwood and sign your child in.
School dismissal begins at 3:30 p.m. Please have car codes displayed in your vehicle. Car codes will be passed out during the first days of school and can be found in your child's green take-home folder. Call our main office at 330.467.0581 if you need additional car codes at any time during the year. Your car codes have an informational backside to them that should be filled out in the event of an evacuation and need for reunification. (Reunification sites will be determined based on the situation, and you will be notified at such time where you will pick up your child(ren). This car code is what you will bring with you. If picking up your child during the school day, please stop in the office to sign him/her out.
OFFICE PICKUP: Students may be picked up in the main office PRIOR to 3:00 pm. Due to dismissal procedures in place, students cannot be signed out between 3:00-4:00 pm unless of an emergency. We thank you for your understanding.
BREAKFAST: Students wishing to join us for breakfast may be dropped off at 8:25 a.m. at the main entrance.
The cost is $2.00.
LUNCH: The cost for lunch is $3.00 for lunch with milk; .50 for milk only. Lunch times by grade level:
Mandatory online forms for the 2020-2021 school year are available for you to fill out at www.nordoniaschools.org/parentportal. These forms must be updated each year and are invaluable for student safety in the case of an emergency. If you are new to the district, you will need to set up a parent account and then add your student with their student ID number. If you need your child’s student ID, please contact the Rushwood office at [email protected] or 330-467-0581. Please be sure to complete ALL required forms prior to the start of the school year.
